Question
I'm looking for a song I heard in the late 90's and haven't been able to locate. The singer is male and his wife dies but she either wrote letter or sent her daughter roses on her wedding day and other events (?) in her life. I've been searching forever and just can't figuer this out. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Adriane!  I'm not sure if this is the song you're thinking of, but "Holes In The Floor Of Heaven" by Steve Wariner is the song that comes to mind.  The song doesn't exactly match up with your description, but it's close.  If it's not the right song, let me know and I'll keep looking!  Hope this helps!

Artist: Wariner Steve
Song: Holes in the Floor of Heaven
Album: Burnin' the Roadhouse Down

one day shy of eight years old, my grandma passed away
i was a broken hearted little boy, blowing out that birthday cake
how i cried when the sky let go, with a cold and lonesome rain,
mamma smiled, said don't be sad child, grandma's watching you today

(chorus)
cause theres holes in the floor of heaven
and her tears are pouring down,
that's how you know she's watching,
wishing she could be here now,
and sometimes if your lonely,
just remember she can see,
there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and she's watching over you and me,

seasons come, and seasons go, nothing stays the same
i grew up, fell in love, met a girl who took my name
year by year, we made a life, in this sleepy little town
i thought we'd grow old together, Lord, i sure do miss her now

But there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and her tears are pouring down,
that's how i know she's watching,
wishing she could be here now,
and sometimes when i'm lonely,
i remember she can see,
there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and she's, watching over you and me,

well my little girl is twenty three, I walk her down the aisle
it's a shame her mom can't be here now, to see her lovely smile
they throw the rice, i catch her eye, as the rain starts coming down
she takes my hand, says daddy don't be sad,
cause i know mamma's watching now

And there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and her tears are pouring down,
that's how you know she's watching,
wishing she could be here now,
and sometimes when i'm lonely,
i remember she can see,
yes, there's holes in the floor of heaven,
and she's, watching over you and me

watching over you and me
watching over you and me

Expertise

I can answer just about any question about lyrics or the artists who recorded the songs--80s and 90s country especially. I don't watch many new videos, but the older the video question, the more likely I am to be able to answer it.

Experience

I've been a country music fan for all of my 20+ years! I somehow have a knack for being able to remember all the words to all the songs (and who sang them for the most part) even though I can't carry a tune to save my life!

Education/Credentials
Juris Doctor. (So if I can't remember an answer off the top of my head, I have the research skills to figure it out!)
