Country Music/Girl Growing Up Old Country Song
Expert: BethB - 6/6/2009
QuestionI remember listening on the radio this song in the late 90's or early 2000-ish. The song was sung by a guy I don't remember that much of the lyrics or tune but in one part of the song was him saying that when the girl was little she was on his lap and he was telling her that she can be what ever she wants to be (or something like that) and the song is about how she is independent girl that goes to the beat of her own drum. I also remember one part of the song singing about her dating guys that her parents don't approve. That song reminds me and my mother a lot of myself and my mother and I would sing along to it cause of it. If you can help me find this song that would be great. Thanks
AnswerHi Erika! I think the song you're thinking of is Faith Hill's "Wild One." Great song! Hope this helps!

"Wild One" - Faith Hill
They said change your clothes
She said no I won't
They said comb your hair
She said some kids don't
And her parents dreams went up in smoke
They said you can't leave
She said yes I will
They said don't see him
She said his name is Bill
She's on a roll and it's all uphill
She's a wild one
With an angel's face
She's a woman-child
In a state of grace
When she was 3 years old on her daddy's knee
He said you can be anything you want to be
She's a wild one
Runnin' free
She loves Rock and Roll
They said it's Satan's tongue
She thinks they're too old
They think she's too young
And the battle lines are clearly drawn
She's a wild one
With an angel's face
She's a woman-child
In a state of grace
When she was 3 years old on her daddy's knee
He said you can be anything you want to be
She's a wild one
Runnin' free
She has future plans and dreams at night
When they tell her life is hard she says that's alright
She's a wild one
With an angel's face
She's a woman-child
In a state of grace
When she was 3 years old on her daddy's knee
He said you can be anything you want to be
She's a wild one
Runnin' free
