Question
my wife who is 53 is looking for a song title that she heard as a teen, all she can remember is the lyrics "if your looking for romance it will only cost you a dime a dance." she believes it was a kris krostoffeson song, any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Hi Michael!  I think the song your wife is looking for is Vicki Lawrence's "Dime a Dance," which was written by Bob Stone.  It was released in the 70s, and is on her "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" album (she recorded it before Reba!)  Hope this helps!

Dime A Dance
Bob Stone

I came to the city cause the folks back home
Thought I was pretty enough to make it
They bought me a ticket on a star bound greyhound
I was on my way
But I landed in a dance hall
Part-time money was all I could make
Sayin' Hey mister take a chance
It only costs you a dime a dance
And if you're lookin' for romance I'll be nice to you
Hey mister it's so cold when you don't have someone to hold
I'll do anything I'm told to do
Baby, I want you

At the time he was livin' with his wife and kids
She wasn't giving him the love he needed
He poured out his troubles at the Sleepwell motel
As I poured the wine
He that he was gonna marry me
If she'd only let him go
So a worn-out promise and a party gown keeps me in this town
Sayin' Hey mister take a chance
It only costs you a dime a dance
And if you're lookin' for romance I'll be nice to you
Hey mister it's so cold when you don't have someone to hold
I'll do anything I'm told to do
Baby, I want you

Expertise

I can answer just about any question about lyrics or the artists who recorded the songs--80s and 90s country especially. I don't watch many new videos, but the older the video question, the more likely I am to be able to answer it.

Experience

I've been a country music fan for all of my 20+ years! I somehow have a knack for being able to remember all the words to all the songs (and who sang them for the most part) even though I can't carry a tune to save my life!

Education/Credentials
Juris Doctor. (So if I can't remember an answer off the top of my head, I have the research skills to figure it out!)
