Question
I've come across the song "Pride" which I think was originally recorded by Ray Price.  I'm wondering who else might have recorded this song.

thanks in advance.

Answer
Hello Kim,

The 1962 Ray Price song, written by Irene Stanton and Wayne Walker, has also been recorded by Dean Martin, Janie Fricke, Union Springs, Bill Pursell, Joe Poovey, and Ralph Emery.

You know that you're doin' lots of things that ain't right
You're out with a different party almost every night
And you're makin' me look like a crazy fool
So, why do I have these doubts about leavin' you

Because my heart tells my stay, but my pride tells me go
But, how can I leave you when I love you so
Which way should I turn, I'd sure like to know
My heart tells me stay, but my pride tells me go

I'd be so much better off to drive you from my mind
And make you a mem'ry that I'd like to leave behind
I know that these heartaches are what you will put me thru
So, why do I have these doubts about leavin' you

Because my heart tells my stay, but my pride tells me go
But, how can I leave you when I love you so
Which way should I turn, I'd sure like to know
My heart tells me stay, but my pride tells me go

Glad to be of help. Cheers.......Mel.

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.
