Question
who sings the song up in pictures? its about a father who missed his baby girl growing up. i think it starts with " I've got her photograph on a standby my bed two on the mantle and thousands in my head, oh it hurts me so to watch my baby grow up in pictures"

Answer
Hello Jenifer,

That's the song "In Pictures" by Alabama, from their 1995 album of the same name.......

I've got her photograph on a stand by my bed
Two on the mantle and thousands in my head
I can't believe how fast she's growing
It ain't supposed to be like this
Everytime I look at her I see how much Ive missed

I missed her first steps, her first words
And "I love you, Daddy" is something I've seldom heard
Oh, it hurts me so to watch my girl grow up in pictures

I send the money down do my best, to do my part
But it can't compare with what I've paid with my heart
There's still one unanswered question
That weighs heavy on my mind
Will she ever understand the reasons why

I missed her first steps and her first words
And "I love you, Daddy" is something Ive seldom heard
Oh, it hurts me so to watch my girl grow up in pictures

It takes all I have to keep the tears inside
And what I wouldn't give if I could turn back time

I missed her first steps her first words
And "I love you, Daddy" is something Ive seldom heard
Oh, it hurts me so to watch my baby grow up in pictures

Glad to be of help. Cheers.......Mel.

Expertise

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.
