Question
a song from the 50"s keeps  running through my head.  I tried to look it up on the Internet, but can't find it.  The title line goes "I had your love on the tips of my fingers.  But I let it slip right through my hands.'

Do you remember this song?  I keep thinking it might possibly  have been sung by ferlin husky, or someone from that era.

Answer
Hello Phil,

That song was called "Tip Of My Fingers". It was originally a Country hit for Bill Anderson in 1960. There have been other versions by Roy Clark (1963), Eddy Arnold (1966), Jean Shepherd (1975) and Steve Wariner (1992).

I reached out my arms and I touched you
With soft words I whispered your name
I held you right on the tip of my fingers
But that was as close as I came

My eyes had a vision of sweet lips
Yielding beneath my command
I had your love on the tips of my fingers
But I let it slip right through my hands

Somebody took you when I wasn't looking
And I should have known from the start
It's a long, long way from the tip of my fingers
To the love hidden deep in your heart

I had your love on the tips of my fingers
But I let it slip right through my hands
But I let it slip right through my hands

Glad to be of help. Cheers........Mel.

Expertise

I have been hooked on Country music since first hearing Jim Reeves in the late 50s. Two of the greatest nights of my life were seeing The Mavericks and Reba McEntire live in London. I am more at home with traditional Country music, but am happy to try and help with any questions relating to songs up to 2000. Please note that I DO NOT have the same knowledge about country music videos or singers private lives.
