looking for a song by the highwaymen. Contains a lyric " I was a damn builder, across the river deep and wide. And when I reached the other side" Please help me find this song, it is going to drive me crazy!

That song is called "HIGHWAYMAN", written by Jimmy Webb. The Highwaymen (Willie Nelson; Kris Kristofferson; Waylon Jennings; Johnny Cash) recorded it in 1985.
