Question I hope you might be able to give me some pointers on the big scrapbook project that I took on just a couple of months ago. My son was on Mock Trial in high school. This is a team that does roles such as lawyers, witnesses, etc. and they go up against other schools in the court buildings to win a case. It even goes on to Nationals. Well, it is a secret between the teacher/coach and I that I'm making 20 scrapbooks to give out at a party in June when she also gives out awards.
I'm Ok now with the pictures, etc. I took several hundred and I'm grouping them and also putting funny captions underneath to get the teenagers all involved with the scrapbook.
Now this is my question. I want to somehow, make it to where the students have some input into the book also. I heard that many years ago a scrapbook was made and an idea happened where parents secretly made letters and it was put in the scrapbook. (I might do this, but of course I need to have something different too.) I'm hoping to think of something that the students can do. I was thinking about having questions on a piece of paper to where it might ask, "What was John's most embarrassing moment?" Then it gets pulled out of a hat and here Mary might be the one to fill this out. There of course have to be many questions to get this going. The thing though, can you imagine me coming up with so many interesting questions when I have so many people to do? Repeat questions wouldn't be fun either. Of course, a question like, "What was John's most embarrassing moment?" can be used and simple ones like that too.
Do you have any ideas for something like this? Or even any direction to where I can find more ideas on school team scrapbooking? Oh, I'm doing this in a 3 ring binder and all of my papers are going into a heavy duty sheet protector. I'm treating the team next week to a Chinese buffet, so this is where I can pass something out so the students can fill it out and get it back to me. Then it can all be put together and ran into copies.
Thanks so much for your time Sheila! I apologize that this isn't an actual crafty type of question. I also love to do crafts too. It is greatly appreciated if you are able to help me in anyway. Thanks again. Patty
Answer Patty;
How about selecting a couple of photos (or even a selection of them) and having a copy of it for each student. Then at the buffet, you can pass them out to all and ask them to comment on the back about that picture.
I like the question idea as well. If you're trying to make it a group activity, it can be tough depending on how old, how reliable, etc. If you have to wrap it up that night, you may just want to ask them to tell funny stories about the event that you can record and use as journaling in the scrapbook.
If you can give an assignment, I'd pick 2-3 questions and ask them to return the info to you within a week to be included. Then the questions you mentioned would be great. You could even customize that sheet so that kids have different questions about different people. I would definitely include a question about what the event meant to them, or what they would say to the teacher/coach about the event. That will mean a lot to the teacher/coach and to the kids!!!
Sounds like a totally cool project and with all of your great ideas, it can't miss!!!
