Crafts/Prep Books

Question
I was wondering if you knew how to prep books. I have seen old books that seem to have the pages glued together (I do not know how this is done either) and then the item must be prepped someway and then the book is painted a solid color. Then it is painted in a decorative way. Like maybe a christmas scene or Easter or? I thought that students could use old discarded Library books for this project.  Any ideas? Thank You.

Answer
Hi Joanne,
Here is a web site that should help you get started.

http://www.teraleigh.com/alteredbooks.htm

If you need more information, go to your search engine and type in "How to alter old books" and you will have lots to choose from. I have always wanted to do this but am so busy doing other projects. Hope it turns out well.

I am a Tole/Decorative painter. I love painting Lighthouses anc Barns and anything else that takes my fancy. I also know how to prep things such as: saw blades, wood, glass, ceramic, masonry, etc.
