Crafts - iron on transfer paper

Expert: Valerie Randall - 9/25/2007

Question
I have read on line about iron on transfer paper for creating mousepads, T-shirts, etc.  All the directions discuss printing the design out of a computer on to the paper.  My question is "is it possible to have children free draw on the paper and still transfer with an iron?" thank you

Answer
No, the iron-on transfer paper is designed to chemically react with the ink from the computer. Drawing onto the paper will not work. Have them paint or draw on the t-shirt with fabric inks/pens which can be purchased at most major craft stores.
