Crafts/ornament making

Question
For a beach themed bridal shower in December, we are making 75 ornaments as favors.  We have real sand dollars which we want to seal with something that will give it a clear, shiny hard finish, because they are so fragile.  We then want to spray some glitter on them.  I have tried spraying one with a thick gloss sealer, however, the sand dollars are very porous and even with 2 coats, they do not appear to have anything on them!  Can you recommend a better product?  Thank you...

Answer
Susan:

I would suggest using the old standard, "Mod Podge", for decoupage projects. It is thicker in the first place to put on, but it dries clear. Sounds like a beautiful idea. The other advantage is that you could sprinkle the glitter on the wet Mod Podge and let it dry in as part of the finish.

Good luck.
