Question
I purchased an old brass mirror at a thrift shop over the weekend and was hoping to create a tarnished blue/green patina.  Do you know of any products that would help speed up the oxidation process?

any help is appreciated!
Thank you,

Adam Loucks

Answer
Dear Adam -

Rio Grande has a Green Patina Solution.  One pint is $17.80.  It is for brass, bronze or copper.

Also check with your local craft and hobby stores.  There is another product from an company called Modern Options that offers a patina wash that works with their metal paint.  You can paint it on most paintable surfaces and then oxidize with the wash.  Their patina is called Patina Green.  They also carry rust, bronze and blue patina.

Keep in mind these are strong chemicals, so read the safety precautions on the labels.

Good Luck!
