Question
Is it okay to store photos in plastic containers?

Answer
Depends on the plastic. You never want to have your pictures in contact with PVC plastics, so if the plastic container is made with PVC, you'll want to avoid it. If you are shopping for storage items, look for items that are PVC-free and archival quality.

If you are just using plastic containers to transport photos to crops or for temporary (less than 3 months or so and only at room temperature) storage, I wouldn't worry about it. But...I wouldn't trust it much longer than that or in anything other than at room temp.

The concern with the PVC is the chemicals that can be emitted from the PVC plastics and affect the pictures. As in most cases, better safe than sorry!

Good luck!
