Question
Hello, if I am asking the wrong expert forgive me. I am trying to help my father improve his credit. I recently moved in with my father. Before the move, we pooled our money together to try to get a new mobile home (in his name), after holding $5,000, for over 2 weeks the local mobile home dealership told us his credit was not approved (the $5,000 was returned). Now, the thing is, we can absolutely afford the monthly payments, so what can we do to help improve his credit and get a new mobile home? Also, he is making payments on a mobile home now he was going to use as a trade-in and has never missed or been late on a payment. What can we do?

Answer
Art,

There are several ways to increase your credit score.  But the first step is to analyze what is making it low.  I recommend purchasing your score from www.myfico.com/12

You'll see your score and all the negative reason codes.  It is very user friendly.  The next step is to consult a credit repair professional for guidance.  Working to have negative items removed is the fastest way to impact the score, but there are many longer term solutions that can be done as well.

You can work on it yourself but if you have a lot of negativity on the reports it is best to hire someone as it can get a little complicated if you do something wrong.  It is not very expensive.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
