Creditors and Bankruptcy - Credit Scores

Expert: Ontrack Financial Group llc - 10/14/2009

Question
I have a judgement that will be wipe out/deleted from my credit report in April of next year.  I would like to purchase a use auto and or try and get a personal loan from the Navy Federal Credit union. When I last check my score were only 601 598 589. I would like to know once this judgement is removed from my credit report approximately how many points will my credit score increase and or should I just wait until this judgement is deleted from my report before I try and purchase a use auto and or apply for a small personal loan. I don't want the extra inquiry to just be a waste of an extra on my report for another 2 years?

Answer
Dear Betty,

Thank you for your question.  While we understand your question, we feel your getting ahead of yourself at this time.  The plaintiff can reaffirm the judgment prior to the statue of limitations.  We have found a higher percentage of judgments are being reaffirmed.

If your credit score is within the 589-601 range there maybe more that affecting the score other than the judgment. While removing the judgment trade-line will help, it may not be enough to secure a loan under the current economic environment.

To answer your question, your credit score can increase anywhere between 50 and 100 points.

Good Luck
