Creditors and Bankruptcy/Current Car Loan

Question
Hello,
I have a car loan that is current, I pay it every month.  I have a 10 day grace period to pay it if I cannot on the due date.  However, if I am 5 days past due I receive at least 5 or 6 phone calls a day from them...as well as my parents.

Back in Jan. and Feb. I fell on hard times and became 30 days late for ONLY those months.  Ever since I have made the payments close to or on time.  They are a company from California, so I was wondering, are they allowed to do this?

Thank You,
Sara

Answer
Dear Sara,

Thank you for your question.

Yes, the company is allowed to contact you if the payment is a day past due.

They can not however speak about the debt with your parents.  They can only ask for location information.  If your parents tell them to stop contacting them the creditor must stop.

Warm Regards,
