Question
while a housewife my now x husband and i filed chapter 13. divorce judge ordered x husband to pay. he did not. received letter of order dismissing case. how do i start over with fixing my credit?

Answer
Hi Dawn,

Fixing your credit is not hard, it requires a little patience, some simple steps, and strong self control.  There are 3 parts to raising your credit score after BK...

1.  Educate yourself as to what it will take and know where you want to be. (you have already started this process otherwise you would not be looking for answers...congrats)

2.  Review your credit reports with the help of a professional to learn what is holding you down and work towards having removable items scratched from your record. (This is what I do)

3.  Replace the negative credit with fresh positive credit...this is where many people really mess up.  The wrong types of credit will not help you.

Of course there is a little more to these steps and I'd be happy to help you if you'd like.  Feel free to call.  With a little effort & help you can be 700+ within 1-2 years after BK.
