Creditors and Bankruptcy/Garnishment
Expert: David - 5/24/2009
QuestionMy husband had a stroke in April 2006 and accumulated a $12000 hospital bill as we had just moved to this city and our insurance would have been effective in one week before his stroke. He was unable to sign the consent forms in the hospital so i signed them. He held down a job approximately two years after but now has not been able to get a steady job. He works temp jobs that pay anywhere from 8-11 $ an hour. My income is our main source of everyday living expenses. The hospital has now put in a garnishment against my wages. Once they start the garnishment on 6/12/09 we will not be able to pay our necessary bills. We have a house payment, car payment and other bills required for daily living. Please help:
Desperate... Thanks
AnswerLena, the first step you should take is to talk to a local Bankruptcy attorney and find out if you qualify for chapter 7. Bankruptcy is the only way to stop the garnishment.
I can help you with the credit repair process but you need to fix your cash flow first.
