Creditors and Bankruptcy/Husband and wife credit score?

Question
Hi,
Boy could we use your services right now! As quick as I can...husband and I both unemployed of over 1 year. My unemployment benefits run out in 2 weeks and we don't qualify for anything else so we will be in bad shape. We have no credit cards, bank accounts, house, or even utility bills in both our names, everything is separate. I would like to get  some kind of part time job and just pay on HIS cards and let mine go, but am wondering if that is worth it. If we have no debit together, and my credit goes in the trash, will that affect HIS credit score? I am thinking not since we have nothing together. I am glad I found you,, once I get a job I will need your services to get my credit back since we do want to move and buy a different house...oh, my name is on the DEED to our home, not on the loan however.
Thank you !

Diana

Answer
Hi Diana,

I believe you are thinking the right way.  It is best to save at least one persons credit if possible when accounts are separate.  Usually the higher income earner since that helps when applying for loans.

We can work on raising your credit score once you have fixed your cash flow problem.  But that should be the priority.
