About Regan Shinski
Expertise
I can answer questions on collections, repossessions, bankruptcy, credit repair, credit counseling, FICO scores, credit planning, and the cause and effect of credit related decisions. I can also answer questions on collection settlements and preparing to sue your creditors for false debts and credit reporting.

Experience
Fifteen years ago I was financially devasted due to severe health issues. I filed bankruptcy, had a foreclosure, car repossession, tax lien, and ruined credit. I immersed myself in credit law. I settled dozens of accounts and had them removed to improve my credit. I personally sued four creditors and collection agencies and won cash settlements for their false reporting on my credit reports. Since then, I have completely recovered and have nearly $100,000 in revolving credit lines and perfect credit. I have owned a credit repair company for the past five years and have an additional three years of specific work in the collections and debt management industry. I am fully versed in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Acts (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and have used them successfully in collection settlements and lawsuits for myself and others. I am also familiar with and abide by the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA). I have deleted or helped delete literally hundreds and hundreds of derogatory items from consumers' credit reports and helped negotiate many settlements with collection agencies and creditors. I have also advised people on bankruptcy at any stage. In the current credit market, I have successfully advised numerous people on how to obtain credit and how to negotiate for better terms.

Answer
Hello Danny:

My knowledge is through experience and education but nothing specific - just 10+ years of monitoring virtually everyday, negotiating and filing lawsuits, and completing credit repair for hundreds of clients.  I have actually spoken at various financial and credit seminars but I really cannot point and say "read this book."  You have to get information from multiple sources, ask a lot of questions, and read, read, read.

More importantly, the MENTALITY is critical.  You really have to be retentive about it and just focus on your credit and related laws like a laser beam.  Most people fail because they cannot give the needed time to research and follow-through.  Both the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) are important to know in and out.  Like all statutes, they are full of some legal language, but they are fairly well organized.  Boards like this are important.  Ask any question you want but doing your own repair is time-consuming.  Embark on it only if you are willing to give a full commitment.  I mean it is REALLY a lot of time if your credit is in shambles because each situation is so unique to get the creditor off your back.

In some cases, for some people, it is just better to hire a professional credit repair company.  I liken it to filing your taxes:  Some people CAN complete the research and do it on their own, others can do it but prefer to have someone else prepare it for them, still others have a situation so complicated, they need a paid professional.

So to specifically answer your question, I do not believe in a single source because proper credit repair and maintenance is evolving and absolutely unique to each case.  However, the FDCPA, FCRA, Q %26 A boards, and basic internet searches CAN be enough for simple repair.

Good luck, let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
