Question I’ll apologize in advance for the length of this…..I applied for a balance transfer with my bank. My chase credit card has a huge interest rate so I thought it would be good for me. I only knew it was approved because about 3 weeks after I applied for it I received a call from my bank’s fraud department saying that my address for the new card didn’t match up to their records. I straightened it out and was told I would receive that card in 7-10 business days. Nothing came in the mail so I called again today and they said the address was still wrong and it has been bounced around to different post offices and some other address that keeps returning it to the post office. Meanwhile almost a month has gone by and now the payment is due tomorrow. I never received a card or a statement from them. I don’t have the money in my checking account to pay over the phone and by the time I transfer money into my checking account it will be too late. They don’t take payments from other credit cards so I’m pretty much forced to pay it late and get socked with a fee. Is there anything that I can do to get them to take responsibility for this? Or is this just one of those situations that I’m stuck with?
Thanks,
Laurie
Answer Laurie,
Call Chase... explain in detail about the issue at hand. Don't tell them you don't have the funds to make the payment. More than likely they will wave the late fee. If that doesn't work borrow the funds from a family member, and pay them back when you transfer money to your account.
