Question Hi Gary,
If a fielder stops the ball, while batsmen are taking runs, and throws it back wildly which then goes over the boundary rope, will it be given as 6 overthrows?
Also, If a bowler bowls a nasty bouncer which goes over the batsman, over the wicket keeper and over the boundary rope will it be 6 wides?
Regards,
Sathya
Answer Hello
1. The number of runs the batsmen had scored at the time of the overthrow, plus the run in progress, will count in addition to a boundary 4 (not a 6).
2. No. Ignoring that this is probably physically impossible unless the ground is tiny, a boundary 6 can only be scored off the bat (it's somewhere in the Laws, I don't have a book to hand).
