Crime & Law Enforcement Issues & Death Penalty/Burglary/G.L. warrant

Question
Dear Sir,

I am wondering which would be the most effective way to have someone arrested with a warrant.  My neighbor burglarized my home this past summer.  I had him arrested.  He is now out on bail, missed his court date, and is still living next door with his mother.

To make a long story short, they have not made things right financially with me.  I would like to have him re-arrested on his warrant for Burglary and Grand Larceny.

The police here in Las Vegas are swamped to say the least.  I am wondering what is the best way to get them to come out for him?  Are there certain "jargon" terms that would make them come faster or will they just wait till he pulled over or something like that?

I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions you could give in regards to anything about this case.

Thank you,
Damon Brown

Answer
Damon,

I don't know who is responsible for arresting people who are wanted on warrants in your city but I can't imagine that the police are too busy to arrest someone who is wanted for burglary and failure to appear in court.  I think that I would simply pick up the telephone and call the police the next time you are sure he is home.  In the even that you have a sheriffs department there that is responsible for serving warrants from court then you should call them.

Please do NOT ask questions about potential jail sentences that you or your friends may receive in court. There is no way for me to know that. I am NOT a probation officer or a parole officer so questions about those subjects will be rejected. I am a police officer with 26 years experience. Can answer questions about crime, police procedure, investigations, criminal law, search and seizure, traffic offenses. Prefer not to answer questions on the death penalty. Please do not ask homework questions. Remember this. The law in every state is different so questions about laws that are specific to your state could be difficult to answer. I also cannot give you legal advice on what to do or not to do in court. I have worked with authors in the past and will be happy to review scenarios or plots with authors to check for believability or accuracy.
