Question
According to my local sheriffs dept. I have an ENTIRE page of varies charges and convictions on my record! Seeing how I have never had anything worse than speeding tickets I investigated...according to the State Bureau of Investigations & the Federal Bureau of Investigation data bases's, I have NOTHING on my record?!?!?! So umm, yea? This is keeping from getting my pistol permit too!

Answer
Depending on how common your name is they could have you confused with someone else. For instance if your name was "John Smith"...there may be several people with that name that have records but they should check further. They should check against date of birth, height, eye color, etc.

The easiest way to check is by fingerprints. If you are trying to get a gun permit, I assume you also had to submit your prints. In criminal histories  they have a fingerprint classification of the person with the record. If your fingerprint classification does not match the one on the record, then they should conclude it is not you that has the record.

If what you claim is true, I suspect they have not tried to verify/check the accuracy of their data. I would ask them the same question you asked me and have them show you the record...good luck.
