Question
Can a police officer give a minor a jaywalking ticket?

Answer
It depends on the age of the minor and the laws in your state. For instance in FL a child under the age of, I think it is 7 years old, can't be charged with a crime because the state has decided at that age they can't understand the difference between right and wrong.

So if a five year old was jaywalking he/she could not be charged but the guardian/parent could be charged with something depending on the circumstances and the laws in your state. However, assuming the minor is old enough to be charged with a crime, he/she can be charged with any crime an adult can including "jaywalking".

Most states now have their laws posted on the internet, so you could research the laws in your state if you are not sure about the age.

Hope this helps.
