Crime & Law Enforcement Issues & Death Penalty/Parking Tickets

Question
Im having a problem with getting parking tickets on my college campus. I work as well as attend Texas Tech. I have a faculty parking sticker that allows me to park in certain places. They say I can not use this to go to class. The problem that I have is that I use it for work all over campus as well as for class and I get tickets because the parking attendents say I "look" like Im going to class. How do they know what my purpose is. I have a problem with is because they are not going by my permit, but only how I "look". Is this a type of profiling and should this "looking" be allowed.
Thank you for you time and 26 years of service.

Answer
Joe,

Sorry but I can't possibly know why parking attendents think that you "look" like you are going to class.  It seems that it is a problem that needs to be resolved between you and whoever supervises these people.  Surely there is an adjudication process for tickets on your campus so I would suggest that you take advantage of the system and also make an appointment with whoever is in charge of these ticket writers.

Expertise

Please do NOT ask questions about potential jail sentences that you or your friends may receive in court. There is no way for me to know that. I am NOT a probation officer or a parole officer so questions about those subjects will be rejected. I am a police officer with 26 years experience. Can answer questions about crime, police procedure, investigations, criminal law, search and seizure, traffic offenses. Prefer not to answer questions on the death penalty. Please do not ask homework questions. Remember this. The law in every state is different so questions about laws that are specific to your state could be difficult to answer. I also cannot give you legal advice on what to do or not to do in court. I have worked with authors in the past and will be happy to review scenarios or plots with authors to check for believability or accuracy.
