Question
The boy is twelve years old and the story takes place in a small upstate NY town. Numerous disciplinary actions have been previously taken by the school  for behavioral problems, but there were no prior arrests before being caught with the marijuana - about 1/8 of an ounce. Another child reports this to school officials - would the drug possession result in a formal arrest?  The damage at school would amount to several thousand dollars (estimate $8,000) worth of computer equipment.

Hello!
I'm a writer and need credible details for a storyline involving a twelve year old boy who is caught with a small amount of marijuana at school. Following this incident, he will be break into the school building and destroy computer equipment. A relative who discovers that he is responsible for this break in will call police and report him.  Can you detail for me what charges would be brought and what procedures would be likely to follow?

Thanks for your help!

The school would inform the police the boy would arrested then then released to the parrents pending
familiy court proceedures. The like outcome is probation.

Again there would an arrest and likily released to the parrents. Again he would go to family court.
In this case with a previous arrest he be likily removed from the home and senteced to a time in a reform school.

Thanks again!
