Alright, I live in the state of Virginia and am 17 years old.  About a year and a half ago I got charged with drunk in public, possession of marijuana, and MISDEMEANOR assault and battery on a police officer.  So they put me on house arrest and extended my court date.  About a month later I got charged with violation of house arrest, but with good reason.  Anyway, so then they sent me to live with my dad (I was living with my mom).  Now, most recently I've been charged with driving after illegally consuming alcohol, curfew, and driving w/o a liscense.  Now I've been on probation since all of this first happened pretty much.  My dad comes to tell me that my probation officer can set rules once I turn 18 as to where i can live, and he can say that i MUST live with my dad or i can be charged with violation.  PLEASE tell me if this is right.  If you're 18 years old you should have the right to choose where you want to reside whether a probation officer COULD or COULDN'T.  But my question is can he?  If you could PLEASE find this information out for me i'd REALLY appreciate it.  THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Your dad was correct your PO can and likily will tell you where you can live. Any change in residence must be approved by the PO. If you were NOT in legal trouble you could choose at age 18. Word of advice if you keep violating probation
your heading toward prison.
