Question
Hello, I am on probation for a controlled substance. I have been following my court apointed classes along with turning my life around. I was recentally pulled over on a traffic violation. Being on probation my car was searched. Finding two perscribed pills ( were mine)and a third that they supected to be extacy. After a feild test of the pill, came up neg. They elected to get a second test at the station. I was being informed that if it were neg. i would be released. I was later book on possible extacy. This a suprise to me as i knew it wasent. After $2500 later i was out only to find out that they dont even have a testing lab at this station. Am i wrong in thinking my civil rights were violated in this arrest? I can not understand how i could be arrested for a substance that isant what they think it is. I am very distrot over the whole thing. This is also a violation of my probation.  Any insite on this that you could share would help greatly. Thanks for your time.

Answer
Just because you are on probation does not mean the police can search your property without probable cause. They may have violated your rights but it sounds like you will need an attorney. It sounds like you were charged with possession and that alone would be enough to violated your probation. Hope this helps. Good luck.
