Question
QUESTION: I was recently served a subpoena to testify in a divorce of a friend. The court date was postponed. I was notified by the office of party of which subpoena was served. They stated that subpoena that was originally served would still be good for new court date. Is this true? Or should they need to serve a new subpoena. I need documentation to show the police if they show up to get me if I do not appear.where can I see this law statement?

ANSWER: Ernest,

The answer is no.  You need to be served individually for each and every distinct court date.  The law office that served you is just trying to save money and aggravation by doing it again.  Hope this helps.

The rule would be in your respective State's rules of civil procedure.
Type into Google or some other search engine, for example: "North Carolina Rules of Civil Pocedure Subpoeana Process Serving Requirements."  You will find the rule.  It probably will be long and a lot to read but the wording you are looking for should be in there.
