Question
My brother told me that when he was in highschool, someone "jokingly" put laxative chocolate into the brownies. My brother didn't buy or eat one, but some people did. Does a prank like this constitutes assault?

It could be assault depending on the states definition of assault, all are a little different. However I am certain it is illegal in all states but probably under a different statute.  In some states there is a law against adulterating food.
In this situation other then a little embarrassing and uncomfortable it is not real hazardous.
