Question
How many years if any, can someone get for Kidnapping charges? The man was indited on Kidnapping charges but my question is how long will he stay there? This was in the City of NY, Kings County

Answer
Ellie,

In New York felonies are divided by class for the purpose of sentencing the classes are from A to D with class A felony being 25 years to life.  Kidnapping is a Class A Felony according to new Your law, however two important points.  There are several different types of kidnapping under New York law so the penalty will be dependent on what type of kidnapping it was.  Second all states have sentencing guidelines which means with the exception of only a few crimes there is some variance in sentencing.  These variances are based on case facts and the defendants history.

So with out more information it is impossible to tell.   But the maximum would probably be within a 25 year to life range.  Hope this helped.

Good luck
