John,
Larceny is a type of crime, there are so many variables and each state has their own elements and variables.  You can have larceny from a person or a building or a car.  Amount of theft is also a factor.  Some states even have larceny charges for different types of items, livestock, scrap metal, agricultural products etc.

Need a lot more information.  here is a web link you can do some checking yourself.  Don't blame me blame the legislators for making so many different laws.
