Senerio: Me and 2 of my buddies stopped at an abandon building to try an figure out where we were, because we were lost on a detour a few towns over. I was upset an decided to spray paint on the wall. The detective said it was no big deal, an i would like to know what is going to happen.

Probably a misdemeanor or at the minimum a civil type infraction.  If it is just a citation with no fingerprints the penalty is more then likely a fine.
At this point you are going to have to wait and see what charge if filed.
