Question
SHOULD THERE BE A SEPERATE SEARCH WARRANT FOR A SAFE ON PROPERTY

Answer
Kim,

Current case law indicates that it is not necessary.  If officers are searching a location and the search warrant is worded correctly and the items that they are searching for can be contained in the safe then they can open it.  Using force necessary.  If they remove the safe so they can search it latter i would suggest a second search warrant specific for the contents.  I tend to be conservative when it comes to search warrants.

Hope this helped
