Question
My father is trying to find out how to get a copy of his fathers autopsy report who died in 1966 in Amarillo, Tx
Any Idea how he would get a copy?

Answer
Scott,

Interesting,  could be difficult as records don't last long.  However i have been successful.  The records or copies could be stored in several different places and they each need to be checked.  Police depts, prosecutors office, Medical examiners office, Specific doctors personal records, county records, funeral home, Attorneys, hospital records, Insurance companies, etc.  Each state will have differing rules.  One thing you need to check is if an autopsy was actually done.  They were not real common back then.  The death certificate should say on it.

Hope this helps
