Question
I got a DWI in Nov of 2000 and was wondering if after 10 years it is wiped away from record. I am currently residing in MN and failed to appear in court back then. Please advise ASAP thanks

Answer
cara,

The term you are looking for is the " life of the warrant"  since you were charged in court statute of limitations is not a factor.  The life of the warrant could be any number of years.  Some jurisdictions routinely review old warrants and dismiss to keep their files clean.  The only way you have of checking is to contact the court where the charge was filed in New Jersey.  See if there is an active case.  They may do it over the phone, if not you will have to contact someone in the area to check in person.  You could enlist the services of an attorney.  For them it may be nothing more then a phone call.  Relatively inexpensive for you.

Hope this helps
