Question
I went out of the country recently and let my ex-roommate take care of my car. I left the title in the glove box. Now I find out that he forged my signature on the title and got new plates and title in his name. What legal action can I take against him?

Answer
Aimee,

This was in the qustion pool so i did not receive it until now, i apologize.
This is a criminal charge, beginning with forgery. Each state will have differing definitions and specific statutes.  Contact your local police and see if you can set up an appointment with a detective or an ivestigator to review your problem.  Makwe sure you bring all the information and documents you have.
I presume your friend will argue that you sold him or gave him the car.  The only evidence you will be able to acquire is that a handwriting expert to show that the handwriting on the title is not yours and is his. Or you will need to show that you could not possilbe have signed the title as your were out of the country.

Good luck
