Criminal Law/Drug charge

Question
My boyfriend recently was taken down to the narcotics unit but was never arrested and never booked in.I was wondering if they can do that and then charge him at a later date? There was basically no record of him even being there.

Answer
Kristen,

First i need to apologize in the delay for responding, i have been out of office on assignment.
Yes, it is not uncommon for police to interview first, actually the more professional way.  Depending on what they learn or don't learn from an interview they can submit for a warrant or other proceeding.  Or they can do nothing and just use the information for intelligence purposes.  Your boyfriend would be a good source for what is going on.  If he is reluctant to be candid with you about what was discussed be cautious as he may be involving you in something with out your knowledge.

Hope this helps
