Question
IF SOMEONE STEALS SOME CHECKS AND FORGES AND USES SAY 20 OF THE CHECKS, WOULD EACH CHECK BE CONSIDERED A SEPARATE COUNT OF THEFT AND FORGERY UPON PROSECUTION (CALIFORNIA)?

Answer
Terri,

Technically yes each time a check was used could be a separate count.  However in most situations subject is allowed to plead to one or two incidents. Then for purposes of sentence enhancement and restitution the counts are added together.  There are probably several different charges that could be brought.  Each state has differing laws and definitions particularly dealing with check type crimes.  If you are concerned about being charged with this type of offense i would suggest you contact an attorney as this can get very expensive.

Hope this helps
