Criminal Law/Appeal affect Parole

Question
How does filing for an appeal (sexual assault conviction) affect your chances for early parole?
For example, can you not see the parole board until your appeal is done?
Will parole board "penalize" you for appealing, even if you drop the appeal?

(I am in Canada so I realize your answer may not apply to Canadian Law.)

Thank you in advance

Answer
Nicole,

From my research I have found no statute, procedure, or rule that would penalize you from or during parole proceedings as a result of filing an appeal.  I believe this applies to Canadian Law.  You should be good to go, but as usual check with a local lawyer.
