Criminal Law/check forgery

Question
What is the criminal sanction in the US for one who is found liable in court for cashing a forged check?

Answer
Dear Adi,

An excellent question.  Because you have given very few details all I can tell you is that a Federal offense is usually punished as a felony.  In the respective States the penalties can range from a high level misdemeanor to a felony depending upon the intent of the perpetrator; such as did the perpetrator know that the check being cashed was forged?  Or, was it the perpetrator who forged the check and then "uttered" or tried to pass it off as being legitimate?

I hope this information proves useful to you.
