Question
Is it a criminal offense to give a police officer false information?  This does not refer to giving a false name-- rather it is false information.  And what section is the penal code is this offense?

   Are you aware that there are fifty states and each have a completly different set of laws?  I could give you the statute number in New York but you could be living in Arizona and it would do you no good at all.  My suggestion would be to talk to the officer that is handling the case since you are obviously involved in some situation involving a false statement.

I am very knowledgeable about search and seizure and taught at the police academy for several years on a variety of subjects. I can answer questions that a lot of attorneys cannot since they do not have "street experience".
