Question - Hi thanks for aswering my original question. Im going to try to be more specific, okay have you ever heard of anyone ever getting arrested at a dmv for a felony warrant. Does the dmv possibly have enough time to check everyone for warrants. Also im not tring to get a liceans just a id. I know i have out of state warrants. or should have them. but i have been pulled over and i gave the officer my liceans and he came back and let me go with a warning ticket. this has happend twice. my liceans has now expired . So is it possible they didnt check for warrants , but my understanding is that they tag them to your liceans so if you get pulled over you can be taken in. is there anyway to find out for sure with out being arrested . probly not (but id like to hear what you have to say) thanks again.p.s. is our system so messed up it could be swept away in the millions of warrants out there. and do felony warrants ever go away. for possession of a illegal substance and violation of probation.
Hi , will the dmv check for out of state warrants to get a id? Also can you go through these online websites to find out if you even have a warrant, or are police and goverment officals the only ones who can look ta these records? thank you

Randy,

There is no way in the world for me to know what your DMV will do.  There are fifty states, thousands of employees, etc, so there is no way for me to predict what they will do.  The police don't use online sites.  They have a nationwide computer called NCIC that they access to determine if a person is wanted elsewhere, etc.

Answer
Randy,

I can't get into a situation where I give you advice because that is the job of an attorney and my function is to answer questions about criminal law, police procedures, search and seizure.  However I will limit my answer to your second question.........yes I have heard about people who have been arrested at the MVA in MY state.  I can't tell you what is going to happen at YOUR MVA.

Please do not ask me about potential jail sentences that you, your friends, or family might receive in court. There is no way for me to know that. Only a judge could answer a question like that. I am also NOT a probation officer or parole officer so I cannot answer questions that relate to parole or probation. Also please keep in mind that every state has different laws. If you are planning to ask a question about a specific law or criminal charge that pertains to your state only it could be difficult to answer. I also cannot give you legal advice on what to do or what not to do in court. Retired police officer with 26 years experience. Worked in the patrol division as well as over 14 years in the detective bureau. Investigated a wide range of crime such as murder, rape, robbery, theft, fraud, missing persons, and other very sensitive crimes. I am available to answer your questions about criminal law and especially as it applies to police work. I taught at the police academy for several years and am especially knowledgeable about search and seizure. Any question about criminal law is welcome! Please don't ask me to do your homework or ask me questions that obviously come from your teachers or professors. I also do not do online interviews or surveys. Young people need to gain face to face interviewing skills. Local police officers usually are very agreeable to assist in these assignments.

Experience

I am a retired police officer with 26 years experience. I investigated almost every type of crime including murder, rape, theft, missing persons, fraud, and domestic abuse. I am very knowledgeable about search and seizure and taught at the police academy for several years on a variety of subjects. I can answer questions that a lot of attorneys cannot since they do not have "street experience".
