Criminology and Forensic Psychology/To the inmates you are around

Brian
Why do you treat them so bad, call them a drug user when they weren't and pretty much make them feel 10 times worse then they already do. I could be wrong, but I didn't think psychologists did that. When I got my B.A in networking and communication management, I just felt smarter and thought about why someone considered an "expert" would do that? Is it because ALL inmates are bad people? I'd have to disagree with that. So would my daughter. They go to prison for making a bad "choice" so they must be bad?
Also why do the psychiatrists in prison prescribe anxiety medication to treat gad like.....sinequan, imipramine, elavil ? Why wouldn't they be prescribed something more for anxiety like say maybe an ssri that can treat depression and about 5 anxiety disorders. Last question expert Jean. Why is depersonalization or derealization something that a psychologist/psychiatrist wouldn't tell me about? Is it because dissociative disorders don't need treatment? I only got my associates degree in psychology, no phd...that's why I'm asking. Thanks :)

Answer
I don't know where you got the idea I treated inmates badly. Sure didn't, I treated them with respect and they returned the respect to me. Your question sounds like you have a personal interest and personal anger over the "treatment" of drug addicts. Are you a drug user? And is your daughter involved in drugs or with an inmate?

People, including inmates, aren't necessarily bad people, but they definitely did a bad thing and an illegal one at that. Seldom, very very seldom, the crime they committed was the only one they committed. Few people get caught and/or are sent to prison on the first offense. This I know both from their criminal history and from their own admissions.

Now about the psychiatric medications, who are you to judge which med is the right one for any particular person? And how are you so sure that the diagnosis is GAD.

Again how would I know why a psychologist/psychiatrist did not tell you what depersonalization or derealization is? Are you rude, angry and confrontive to them? Do they just want to get you away from themselves?

Are you the person with depersonalization / derealization/ drug abuse?
