I hold a AS from Eastern Conn. State Univ. and a BA from Trinity College, Hartford Ct. Plus 11 other professional certifications. I have received 31 awards for various activities. My writings published in ?The Other Voice? and other publications. I have had my original music published, licensed and recorded by David Kaye. I have been a guest on CyberRadio & TV and many other talk radio programs.
I welcome interviews and I am willing to act as a technical advisor to various media. I am single and have resided in Hartford, Ct. since 1976. I have no children. I am a political conservative with libertarian leanings. I am a registered Republican. I am a Roman Catholic. Question my 19 yr old brother in law moved in with my husband and i about 3 months ago. about a week ago he revealed to me that he has fantasies about murdering us that keep him up sometimes at night. he says he would shoot my husband and use a knife on me while we are sleeping. if the police arrive before he can get away, he would shoot himself. if not, he would take the car and drive away, eventually dumping it. to describe the thoughts, he used the words "vivid", "exciting", "as if i hate you guys" and "powerful". he described the chance of him acting on the fantasy is about the same as meeting a celebrity and the two of them falling in love. my husband and i have a wonderful relationship with him and have not done anything to provoke this. we had him move out and told him that if he sees a therapist and figures out why and resolves it, he can eventually move back in. what should we do now?
Answer Good question.
He needs to see a psychiatrist not a therapist.
You might want to ask your physician if he is commitable
or refer you to people to advise you on this locally.
You may want with other familiy members about this.
You might want to talk with local police for advice or a restaining order. I would also recommend you get a shotgun if the gravest extreme happens. Take the National Rifles Association Personal Safety class. I also recommend you get a monitored alarm system for you home. Pepper spray and cell phones close are good idea as well.

But I don't.
Make sure he gets the right help and the doctors knows what he said. Enlist the family to help.
