My husband was told by his father that he could claim an inheritance to a farm in yugoslavia, Do you have any idea how he can do this. We live in the USA. I would appreciate any help you could give us.
Thank you,
Shelley

ANSWER: You must have some proof that you are inheritance rights, you have to know exact location of the farm. But most of all you have to go in person in Pristina and make this happened.
If your husband is the only inheritance person then is simple if there are more then one (brothers, sisters, relatives etc.) then is a never ending story ...

QUESTION: His father was the first son and it was passed down to him because he is the first son. I believe his mother has everything in writing, he just found this information out and his father passed away in 1996. Who would we contact?
Thank you,
Shelley
Answer You should contact the official court in Priština and make request to transfer your propriety in "zemljišnim knjigama" onto your name.
Currently on Kosovo (former part of Republic Serbia) is very chaotic situation, and maybe you should wait with your property papers.
Never the less you should try to find somebody living in Priština to give you more support on this matter, cause it will be the best possible solution for you at the moment.
