Croatia/Croatia travel

Question
Hello,
We are planning to travel through Croatia next June and wondered how safe it is for American tourists?  Are there places we should avoid?

Also, what about train travel?  Is it a good way to get around?

Thank you.

Answer
Hi,

Croatia is completely safe for all tourists, including Americans. Street crime is at a significantly lower rate than in major US cities. People (especially younger ones) speak English and as a rule are friendly towards foreigners. The only parts of the country that you should avoid are areas in the hinterland near Bosnian border where there are still uncleared minefields, so pay attention to the danger signs.

Train travel is an OK way to get around, though buses are more commonly used, especially for smaller places on the coast.
