Croatia/Staying in Split

Question
My wife and I are going to be staying in Split for two nights, May 17th and 18th before joining a group on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje. We would like advice about where to stay in Split. We understand that local people rent rooms for a very reasonable price. Do you know if this is advisable and how we could connect with someone who has a room to rent for those two nights? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dave

Answer
Hi Dave,
you will have no problem finding people who rent rooms. Just go to the train or bus station and look for older ladies carrying carboard signs "rooms" and yelling "sobe" (it means rooms in Croatian). Although hotely accomodations is a bit scarce in Split and therefore mostyl high-priced. Check this hotel  www.hoteldujam.com . I thik their rates are comparable to private rooms and the quality is better.

Enjoy your stay in Split and you visit to Medugorje.
