Question
I was wandering I have been crocheting for about 40 yrs but cannot figure this out.  I am crocheting a ripple afghan and have done about 15 inches and was wandering would there be any way to change it to go straight across in the middle and then change back to ripple at the end without having big holes.  This afghan started out with Ch 175 if that will help any.

Answer
Wow, Cheryl! That's an interesting question! I suppose you could fill in the lower (V sections) with treble crochets in the deepest part, then dc's near the top to get it level, sl st to the next V & repeat the process, all the way across. Since I don't know how your pattern is, it's really difficult to say for sure, and I've never done it, but it seems to me that this might work. It all depends on how deep the "V"'s are and how far apart the points are. I think it's worth a try!
Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Expertise

I consider myself an expert in the field of hand crochet. I have been crocheting for 45 years. I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items. The art of crochet, after 2 decades of being out of fashion, is enjoying a modest come back. I want to help those newcomers looking for a little/lot of help to get started. Once they are comfortable with the process, they can relax & begin to create the heirlooms of tomorrow.
